Kakejiku (kakemono), ink painting depicting a macaque monkey looking at the moon.
Baien is a gō (an artist's name) common in late Edo and early Meiji Japanese painting. Here, probably a Shijō or Maruyama school painter specializing in animals.

The work is fine, expressive, with a beautiful bristle technique.
Kakejiku alone, but working in tandem with a second model also on sale at Kogeiya.
