Discover a refined tantō signed Yokoyama Kōzuke Daijō Fujiwara Sukesada 横山上野大掾藤原祐定 active around 1850-1868 (late Edo), one of the representatives of the prestigious Sukesada lineage, active in the Bizen Osafune region, the historic cradle of Japan's greatest blacksmiths.
This NBTHK-certified blade belongs to the late Edo period (19th c.), a period of technical and aesthetic renewal for the Bizen school.

Tradition and attribution
The Bizen-den tradition, renowned for its elegant and dynamic chōji-midare hamon, is perfectly represented here. The Sukesada of the Yokoyama lineage are renowned for their mastery of Bizen chōji, often inspired by Kamakura-Muromachi models.
The signature "Yokoyama Kōzuke Daijō Fujiwara Sukesada" appears regularly on high-level blades intended for prestigious civilian or military orders during the late Edo period.
General condition
The blade is in excellent condition, with a clean polish that highlights the hamon and the texture of the jigane. No visible structural defects. The assembly (koshirae) is period and functional.
